Stageco’s bijdrage op Graspop Metal Meeting is sinds de start in 1986 gestaag gegroeid samen met het festival, en ook dit jaar was weer een keerpunt. Met de toevoeging van een extra hoofdpodium en zijpodium werd de pret op Graspop voor Stageco verdubbeld! Het hoofdpodium, dat voordien bestond uit één enkele 4-Tower in Festival opstelling, werd in navolging van andere Hard Rock Festivals als Hellfest Clisson & Wacken Open Air, uitgebreid met een tweede 4-Tower. Door deze dubbelopstelling werd de totale voetafdruk van het hoofdpodium vergroot tot een immense 87m x 37m. Beide podia werden met elkaar verbonden door middel van een portiek in zwart staal op welke een reusachtige doodskop werd opgehangen, waarvan de plaatsing volledig vertrouwde op het scherpe inzicht van onze Belgische crew. Niet alleen was het een complexe uitdaging voor onze ingenieurs om de schedel aan de portiek te laten bengelen, maar ook de opbouw van het geheel met een combinatie van standaardmateriaal en op maat gefabriceerde stukken stelde de knowhow en inventiviteit van onze bouwploeg op de proef. Stageco bouwde behalve het hoofdpodium ook nog verschillende indoor podia en stellingstructeren doorheen het festivalterrein, en voor de eerste keer deed onze Micro Arch dienst als Jupiler Stage. Bij aanvang van de bouw arriveerden vanuit alle windstreken een totaal van 28 Stageco trucks, met materiaal dat niet alleen werd aangevoerd vanuit het hoofdkantoor in Tildonk, maar ook rechtstreeks van de afbraak van Rock Am Ring in Duitsland en Pinkpop in Nederland, waardoor een sterk staaltje logistieke coördinatie vereist was. Ook voor de load out werden op diezelfde kwaliteiten beroep gedaan om het materiaal overnight verscheept te krijgen naar Milton Keynes voor de Britse editie van het Electric Daisy Carnival-dancefestival.
Stageco's involvement at Graspop has grown steadily with the festival since the start in 1986, and this year was another turning point as Graspop doubled the fun for Stageco with the addition of two extra stages. Previously, Graspop’s main stage featured a single festival 4-Tower roof from Stageco, however, following in the footsteps of some other major hard rock festivals like Hellfest Clisson and Wacken Open Air a second 4-Tower was added this year. These twinned 4-tower roofs increased the total footprint of the main stage to 87m x 37m. The two stages were connected with a black steel portal in the middle on which a giant skull was positioned – a feat that relied on the sharp instincts of our Belgian crew. Not only did the hanging the skull from the portal pose a complex engineering challenge, solving the build issues with a combination of standard material and custom-made items was also a test of know-how. Stageco Belgium also built indoor stages and scaffolding structures across the Graspop site and, for the first time, provided a Micro Arch for the Jupiler Stage. A total of 28 Stageco trucks arrived on site at the start of the festival build, with equipment coming direct from the Tildonk HQ, as well as from the load-outs at Rock Am Ring in Germany and Pinkpop in Holland, all of which required careful co-ordination. That same brand of accurate planning was relied upon once again during Graspop’s load-out, when Stageco’s equipment was shipped overnight to Milton Keynes for the UK Electric Daisy Carnival.
